When it came down to the popular vote there was no contest. Whatever else we might think about Americans they are not stupid and Kerry was not a good candidate. We also forget how good a campaign organisation the GOP is. We forget that in 2000 Bush was so far behind Gore 9 months from election day. Bush was not even supposed to be close. The miracle of the GOP campaign in 2000 was not so much they won but they got even within range of winning.
I don't think the democrats learnt their lesson and because of that they lost. Still I remember the original line up of Democrat candidates, when their were 12 of them. Apart from a General and Kerry they even had Al Sharpton on the platform!!

GOP stands for the Grand Old Party, which is an American nickname for the Republican Party. It is widely used in the states, rather like we use Tory party for the Conservatives.
Actually why don't we call the Lib Dem's Whigs?
Not much I can add here. GOP - Grand Old Party. Interesting thought about the Lib Dems being whigs. Difference is that whigs were a serious party of Government and I am sure nobody, not even the Lib Dems, would really want to imagine the LD's as serious!!

The 'Focus on the family' website is is a mumbo jumbo of badly learnt science and extreme right wing populism from the US. They claim to be the 'moral majority' that now run the US.
Your party leader has taken what would (even in the US) seen to be a centrist position on stem cell research. (And I'm sure it had nothing to do with the death of Chistopher Reeve) - but you are unsure? Do you believe that tiny clumps of cells which can exist on a Petrie dish have life? Is it murder to put a syringe into a fetus? Do you oppose abortion?
I think your claims to be a man of the people and in tune with Kingston are fake - you're a right wing mumbo jumboist - you haven't worked ot that the white people in Kingston got fucked over by Thatcher and Major and the black and yellow came here to do the entreprenuerial stuff you claim is great - but have doubts when you see the colour of their skins - or religion.
