I also had not updated the blog for about two weeks, although I had been writing it as the campaign went along. I have now had the time to post up all the entries so you get a better picture of what went on.

What a ridiculously mad campaign. The smoke has cleared, the blisters have gone, the 100's of frustrated ladies I've had to leave behind because of this campaign can now be satisfied again.Oh yes, Blair has been rattled.Davies,May and Mr.Letwin are all still here and who would have thought Kilroy-Silk would get over 3,000 votes? So much for the Lib dems campaign of decaptitation. Maybe now they can return to what they do best, make up crap policies, followed by more crap policies, and yes, you guessed it even more useless and crack-pot policies.
Davey has confirmed to everyone that he's as wet as a fish's wet bits, the Veritas guy shouldn't give up his day job, and we've also found someone to not only LIKE Arthur Scargill but who actually wants to open up the mines again.
I need a drink, I really do.
Politics eh.....
PS - Well done Kev,everyone else,(including myself).
Well done to the whole shabang - Conservative shabang that is! I am so proud of this campaign and what was achieved in this Borough - yeah winning would have been great Kevin but we have to be realistic and a 7% swing to us is a HUGE step on the way to giving this constituency an MP it deserves.
Your speech was great at the Count, just a pity Davey had to play up to the worst elements of his party and show no understanding of the phrase 'gracious winner.' But give him his due, his speech this time was no where near as nasty as his 2001 witterings. Just a pity the public don't see this side of him.
Nationally it seems people are beginning to get the picture though - we took more seats from the Lib Dems than they did from us after all. Just feel a little sorry for Labour now as they face the yellow peril.
Great result,a 7% swing is spectacular.
Must get back to the mundane now such as King Charles Road obstacle course where the Lib Dem special cleverness dept have excelled themselves, and getting c/tax back to a few years of zero increases by slashing admin staff and prob entire planning unit.
Well done Kevin and your team.
Great result you must be really proud.
Polling 4,000 less than Dick Tracey did in 1997 is some achievement and only a mere 14,000 less than the Tory score when they last elected an MP in the Borough.
You must be looking forward lots to next year's council elections when you will no doubt sweep to power on a promise of lower taxes and more spending but do exactly what you did last time - stick the Council Tax up by 50% while burnt out cars lined the streets.
How about a new slogan Tory Boy? 'Fort Apache, the Berrylands'?
Maybe if you become leader of the council again - with all that extra pay you'd claim you mght be bothered to turn up at importnat ward meetings to deal with things like Post Offices closing? Or is that just too demeaning for a man who is clearly on his way to Parliament?
Enjoy your break Tory Boy!
May I just say as a Labour campaign worker in this campaign I find it totally ridicolous the Lib Dem's would resort to such backhand comments. They should be gracious in victory and show political commpassion. All the same it shows how low the Lib Dem's are prepared to go and how shameless they really are. Well done for a good election result Kevin.
As ever, the Lib Dems seem to be very good at ignoring the facts. The biggest Lib Dem to Conservative swing in the country is hardly a great result for Davey.
And as for council tax increases, you should check the budget council minutes for the last ten years to see who was responsible for the massive rises - it certainly wasn't the Conservatives!
Au contraire -
It's a good result for Davey - he won, Tory Boy lost.
As for council tax rises check the facts:
Lowest average rises between 1994-1998. Highest average rises between 1998-2002. Lower average rises 2002-.
Some questions?
How much did the Council tax rise under Kevin Davis and the Tories between 1998 and 2002?
Which councillor was leader of Kingston Council when the Council tax hit an average of £1,000 for a band D property?
(Answers in case you haven't checked your facts are - 50% and Kevin Davis).
So you know who to vote for if you want high Council Tax...
You too should check your facts. Kevin Davis was never Leader of the Council. He was Leader of the Administration for 14 months. During that time there were two budgets set which he voted against on both occasions. On both occasions he proposed low Council tax rises which the Lib Dems, who had more Councillors by then, voted against.
Of course Davey won, but by a lot less than the Lib Dems were telling people they would win by.
However, former Lib Dem MP Sue Doughty, (who Davey deserted Kingston voters for to help out during her campaign) believes it was Davey wot lost it for her with his silly Local Income Tax policy. You should have heard him try to splutter on the radio yesterday trying to pretend that the Lib Dems are not left wing - not sure he is trying to kid more - himself or us?
Awww - Leader of the Administration was he - well that's alright then - clearly had nothing to do with running the Council.
So the Tories ran the 'Administration' - but not the Council? They voted against the Council's budget? However I don't remember Tory Boy and and his colleagues turning down their 'Special Responsibility Allowances' of up to £25,000 a year.
So let me see...
They were the biggest party on the Council, they formed the administration, they took the 'responsibility' money and yet they 'didn't run the council?
So then which is it then incompetence or stupidity?
You need to ask the Lib Dems these questions. They were the ones who agreed to this and they were the ones who refused the use of the title Leader of the Council.
It was what they call a hung council and they had the power to stop whatever happened. If they chose not to then then are clearly equally culpable!
As I said previously the Conservatives were not the largest group on the Council from almost a year before the elections. As I remember it the Comnservatives offered the leadership to the Lib Dems but they refused to take up their responsibility, probably because like now they would not have got a clue what to do except employ hundreds more staff and shove up Council tax higher.
Council Tax Band D: Surbiton(LibDem) £1375 /Westminster(Cons)£618!!
In the the next council elections the Lib Dems will be thrown out. No Lib Dem councillor should be allowed anywhere near the councils budget!
Will the Lib Dems show some respect and stop spamming this website!
No Fuck off Michael you Tory/Labour twat.
How's that for spamming?
As expected the Lib Dems have to resort to abusive language when losing the argument. Get back in your trailer scum!
wow... they can't win in a reasoned civilised debate so they resort to insults! That's the Lib Dem's for you! When it looks like they are losing the argument.... wait for it... they tell me to get lost. That's going to win you votes isn't it!
Resign from what?
The figures you quote seem to go up every time you quote them.
Knocking the buidling down is not in the plans and the planning committee did not refuse them on the grounds they were. In fact they can not knock the building down as it is in a Conservation area, something I very much support!
