The Return of The Big Beast

Tory Leadership Blog

Ken Clarke needs to answer some questions for me if this is a serious challenge:

Where has he been since 1997 (apart from tobacco board meetings)? Should our next Leader have not been fighting for us through the past eight years and not just pop up whenever the Leadership comes up for grabs?
What is he offering the country?
When he says he no longer loves the Euro what are his views about the rest of the European monolith?
Does he really believe that a number of the Lib Dems should have been Conservative MP's and not Lib Dems? They might appear Tory to get elected but they sure ain't Tory when they win!!

Still a long time to go but at least someone has at least declared they are a candidate instead of all the shadow boxing we have had till now.

KEN CLARKE IS GOOD NEWS FOR LABOUR

I am slightly younger than Clark but still 61.
I am considered unemployable by any serious company with need of my particular skills and experience.

But would be welcomed to do voluntary work using these same skills by many organisations.

On this basis Clark is probably only good enough to gather empty s/mkt trolleys or man a Charity Shop.

Get real you Tory mandarins and party chairman and groom a young star, paying no attention to gender/colour/age.
Go to the Granita and start selecting one right now so that we have a saviour to pick up the bits that will surely follow from the disaster that Brown will inflict on us all.

I am not particularly worried about his age but there are other problems.

Where has he been for the past four years since the last leadership contest?

Are we really going to have a Leader that IF it comes to a vote over the Euro might then vote one way whilst the rest of the party votes another.

I remember four years ago when we had these discussions I was of the view then that we should have selected someone who could act as a stop gap, in my view that would not be appropriate now but I think KC would be that in effect!
