"Top Liberal Democrat Vincent Cable has said his party could form a coalition with the Conservatives in the event of a hung parliament."
I know the Liberals have dissapeared off the airwaves since the General Election but this is a prety desperate attempt to create a story. Perhaps my Liberal readers could tell me what the advantage for the Conservatives would be in going into coalition with a high tax, high spend party to the left of Labour?

You know, you should really follow what's going on in your own party. Your likely new leader, Kenneth Clarke, has suggested a coallition with the Lib Dems - Vince Cable was merely responding to that suggestion.
By the way, Lib Dem tax plans would leave most people with less tax to pay.
I'm amused by the title 'Vote Lib Dem - get a mess'...given it was Ken's suggestion, it should be 'Vote Conservative - get a mess'.
If you read the article you would see that Cable was not repsonding to anything but wiriting a pamphlet for the left wing think tank Demos.
Actually Clarke was saying something about some Lib Dem MP's should have been Conservatives! I have already posted on that nonsense.
If Lib Dem tax plans are going to leave people better off then I look forward to them reducing the Council tax next year and not putting it up at all!! They will not because they have a Council leader who happily proclaimed that he came into local government to spend money. The result is that we will probably see Kingston become the highest council tax in London.
Actually, you were only better off on Lib Dem Council Tax plans if your total hosuehold income was below £35k. There are very few two worker families that earn that, especially in Kingston!
Perhaps anonymous could also tell us what other taxes were going to be lowered? For those who want to see the real Lib Dem tax position then there is a link to Lib Dem Policy on the right hand toolbar.
Vote Lib Dem - get the highest council tax bill in the country and crap services!!
