Interesting that here their emphasis is on the improvements to Tolworth Broadway. Only once is the Tesco store mentioned.2,000 more people? What about schools? Will Tesco be sponsoring a new school under the Government's initiative launched this week in their White Paper.

900 more houses means 900 more Council tax bills doesn't it? and from teh pictures these aren't likely to be a lowly Band D either.
All your questions have an air of nimbyism about them. I know you are conservative - but that doesn't have to mean you oppose all change.
I seem to remember you calling for bold and radical new designs and solutions for Kingston Town Centre for flagship schemes that make us a landmark borough and give us local identity - why not Tolworth too?
The Market House was new once too y'know. think of teh traffic and congestion that cause way back. ANd all the space that took away from local traders.
John Lewis likewise.
And extra people would be a huge boost for the Tolworth economy - think how many jobs.
This could be prosperity on a stick!
Seems to me your questions are distinctly one legged.
I am not sure we disagree on this. IF this proposal were to go further I would need to see a very large amount of community benefit, in the way of schools and hospitals, but as it stands they are not in the plans we have before us.
Remember they also said that Tolworth Tower was a landmark. It may well have put Tolworth on the map but it did nothing to regenerate the Broadway.
How can you regenerate an obsolete shopping platform like the Broadway?
I have lived in the area since 1972 and have probably only shopped there about 4 times.
Without bold iniatives such as the Tesco plan along with massive investment in infra structure, especially roads and parking, the Broadway must surely wither and die within a few years.
