It is startling that there is any politician left that does not believe that taxes are not high enough already. I accept he is arguing that the better off should pay more tax but what exactly does he mean by that. More income tax, more inheritance tax, more which tax?
I am a little dissapointed the Conservative party is pulling back from their look at flat tax. I have no idea whether it would work but I do know we should have investigated and discovered the truth of what a simpler tax system could do for us and our economy.

Flat tax may not be a panacea,but should be invesigated and modelled most carefully before any action either positive or dismissive.
I agree that the Tory party must look at reducing the overall tax take which is now in excess of 40% average for all tax payers.Greater even than Germany.
Removal of tax on dividends is essential to restore the benefits of saving into ISA`s and to encourage pension funds to move out of overpriced bonds and back to equities.Long term equities,with dividends rolled up,will always be a better bet,long term in this scenario being 30/50 years.
