"Fruitcakes, loonies and closet racists"

Apparently David Cameron has upset the UKIP. One presumes that the calculation is that anyone who was going to leave this appalling UKIP would have done so and what remains is a hardcore anti Europe rump.

The UKIP leader has admitted they are "fruitcakes and loonies" but is unhappy about the racists bit.

It is strange that they have not fielded a candidate in the Borough elections.

This blog link tells a different story from that which UKIP would have us believe.

Looks like another round of Tory infighting is brewing:

One of the problem with this issue is the list system. If people like Caroline Jackson, Tim Kirkhope and Christopher Beazley are 1, 2 and 3 on the list it makes it very hard for Eurosceptics to vote Conservative! Indeed they are practically forced to vote UKIP when they would really rather not!

Let us look at the position in London. The dreadful Tannock and Bowis are in the top 3. Therefore it is impossible to tick the Conservative box without voting for a raging Europhile! Is it any suprise that many people deicide not to do this?

There is not easy answer to this question. Any ideas on how selection could be reformed?

The sooner we get out of the EPP the better.

Of course what is at the heart of the problem of the list system is proportional representation. Those on the list are really no better than unelected bureaucrats.
