Rubbish collections

This is a road in Berrylands just after the collection of rubbish last Friday. This is not the first time that this has happened. It is probably not the fault of the bin collectors but more likely a result of the urban fox. Still, I would have thought that the bin collection contract would have the bin men tidy up this type of problem - obviously not?

If one watches a collection sequence in progress one can often see the neatly tied plastic bags left by the homeowner, being launched across the roads to "holding piles".
The net result is that many thin gauge bags split open and scatter their contents in a pleasingly random pattern for many yards around.
Onwe can only assume this technique is part of the NVQ required to be a bin man.
Oh sorry "bin man" is not PC it must be Waste Collection Outreach Executive by now.

You should think yourself lucky. At least you get your rubbish collected.

As a resident of Portsmouth Road, the recycling collectors obviously can't be bothered to collect around me. Everytime the day arrives, we put our boxes out; everytime they ignore them; everytime we phone the council up; sometimes they might then come a few days later. It gets boring and repetitive and I am not surprised all of my neighbours have given up recycling a long time ago.

Watching the refuse lorry is like watching a trawler at sea - there is a scattering of rubbish just like the floating dead fish discarded by the trawler. The difference is, there are no seabirds to gobble up the pickings.

It doesn't matter who runs the council or even if the service is in-house, the refuse collectors don't take pride in their work and don't give a damn about the mess they leave behind.
