Safer Neighbourhoods?

I yesterday mentioned on the blog about a vandalised car in Berrylands. I tried to report this to the Safer Neighbourhoods team. Neither of their contact numbers worked (one seemed as if it was being picked up the put down again) and I am still waiting (24 hrs later) for at least an acknowledgement of my email.

Sounds like another triumph for Red Ken and the other Blair.

I thought it might be a good idea but since the early days in Berrylands I have not seen them around at all...of course they may all patrol at night but if so how come they cant catch the bad boys and girls?

Apparently they were all off on Monday and Tuesday.

Can't your ex-Kingston Police Interpol Councillor have a word?

I am a local resident that lives very near to the center of town, and anti-social behaviour is a big problem near where I live. The local shops being a big target. The kids are next to out of control, and some of the grown ups are not that much better. Speaking to one of the shop keepers, I was informed that the Police have given them a so called 'Anti-Social Behaviour Diary' in which to record events, which they then come to inspect every week. The shop keeper and I were baffled by this idea, is one supossed to protect himself and his buisness, or stop to write a diary entry? I was told that the police team, in fact visit not every week but more like every two-three weeks and that is only when they want to buy a drink or a packet of ciggerettes. Surely this is not good enough. Like another comment posted the Lib Dems do not not seemed concerned with this problem, but are more interested in no-existent theatres.
