I am not convinced by the argument that the Conservatives have argued that Mothershould stay at home and not work. I certainly never have. I am sure I have read that there is some evidence that children raised by their parents in the early years have a slightly better chance of being succesful at school. However, I am no longer sure how it is at all possible for parents to stay at home. House prices, taxes etc etc have made this a difficult path to follow. Couple that with the soaring cost of childcare and many Mothers I have met have a tough choice to decide whether it is financially worth their while going out to work once all the cost of doing so have been deducted. I do however agree that we should stop designing a one size fits all style of child care and instead use child care to support the types of lives families want to live.

You cannot have it all.
Do not have children if you want a career that lasts and requires true commitment.
If you have children accept that as being a genuine full time job and when practical look for additional work. The internet now provides enormous scope for those with vision and determination and can operated from home.
Maintain a sense of humour and avoid all those dreadful "wimmin" who harp on about Penile Imperialism,it has been my experience that women in business can be just as frightful as some men.
My child, Emily, is living proof that one style doesn't fit all.
Aged 4 and a half, she has amazing verbal skills which make her way above her peers.
She can't read yet, but she wants to do so and I am sure she will do so very soon.
She is totally extrovert, and if she doesn't become a model, she will go on the stage. She likes going to dancing classes on Thursday morning, not because she meets children her own age, but because she genuinely loves dancing and, of course, she loves looking at herself in the mirror.
The other children in her dancing class are all in the same nursery. It's a shame that they don't make friends with her because of that. But she doesn't mind. My wife, who has to sit through the lesson does get annoyed by the bitchy women parents of the other children, all of whom are career parents. My wife is a career lady, who earned mega bucks until she gave it all up to look after my child (and me) and do her antique business. Women can be bitches, not like blokes, who get on with each other.
Anyway, my child has been to nursery since aged 3 months, and is an extremely intelligent, well sorted, genuinely happy little girl. Long may it continue.
