I am pleased this has finally come to fruition.
What concerns me is how long these things take to be implemented. It was last July that I first discussed this and called for the Councils neighbourhood committee to look at safety measures. Yet we are only just getting this report and this is calling for conultants to look at what could be installed.
Why does a Council have to take so long to act?

The thing that bothers me about the Queen's Walk, between Kingston and Surbiton, is that it doesn't extend far enough.
Between the Queen's Walk and Thames Ditton, there are four owners of riverside land that we should consider for extending the riverside walk.
1. The yacht club may not be immediately welcoming, but planning consent for future projects might help them consider opening up their riverside.
2. The bar has just been granted planning consent, but I bet Kingston officers didn't think to include planning gain of opening up the riverside walk.
3. Persimmon Homes and Thames Water own the filterbeds. Probably enough said about that. But, if limited consent was allowed on the land opposite the former Honda sales garage, they might be able to open up the riverside walk.
4. The marina is the final owner. They may be able to do some limited opening up of the riverside.
Unfortunately, Kingston don't give a f@&^% about public access to the riverside, otherwise they might have been more forthcoming,
