"Lib Dems are now privately convinced they will have new leader within a year"

In my previous blog entry I raised the issue of the leadership of the Lib Dems. An anonymous entry immediately came back and attacked me for peddling "half truths and lies"; as I had accused the Lib Dems during the election.

As this link tells you the story of Ming is not one that I started running but one the Lib Dems themselves are publicly talking about. Seems to me the party is into a divisive meltdown in the way the Conservatives were in the nineties. I think it is a shame for Ming that the self same people who pushed Charles Kennedy out are now the ones who appear to be withdrawing total support from Campbell. He seems a decent enough man for me but his lack of charisma was apparent when they chose him as Leader a few months ago. In fact at the time we were being told that this was a strength!

I think it overstates the case to say that the Libs are in meltdown a la the Tories in the 1990s. However I agree with you that Campbell is living on borrowed time - politically speaking of course!
Chris Huhne will be leader within 18 months I reckon. Any other names in the hat?

Actually difficult to tell who might get it!

Is it going to be possible to stall the inevitable decline of the Lib Dems in the South, as Cameron brings back former Tory voters, and their rise in the North. Their best bet would be a leader in a seat in the Midlands or Northern England.

I do not know enough about their MP's to know whom that might be.

John Hemmings???!

Greg Mulholland - Leeds?

If memory serves correctly Ming was a self same person.

As such he has cannot object to the same if he is an electoral liability.

You have to love Rob Lee's pathetic attempts to wind you up Kevin. In fact on the vote 2006 blog http://www.vote-2006.co.uk/ by 'not since 1994' which is quite blatantly Councillor Rob Lee, this was posted 7. In the hearing of Kevin Davis, at around 4am Cllr Rob Lee (Tolworth) was asked if he was going home. Mr Lee responded by stating 'certainly not - I want to see Kevin loose'. Oh dear!

What a typical Lib Dem: ungracious in victory.

BOB for Leader

You'd think that Councillor Rob Lee (Tolworth, Lib Dem) would be too busy representing his ward to spend his time surfing the internet, finding new but unimaginative ways to show what a thoroughly obnoxious individual he is.

But, it would seem, you'd be wrong.

Citizens of Tolworth, take note.

So what part of 'I want to see parties campaign on policies' does this post cover?

I've always thought Ed Davey fancied himself as the Lib Dem leader. When I made a comment about his ambitions at a SCARA meeting last year, he blushed, but he didn't say no.

You are really being very silly!

I am not campaigning on anything - this blog is not about campaigning.

I think it time you lie down in a dark room and have a rest. I am getting on with things and I think it time you did as well!!

In other words - try and get a life!
